How do I cancel my Pro plan?
Cancel in App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Your data stays; you return to the Free plan at the end of the billing period.
Canceling your KeptMind Pro (or AI+) subscription is handled through your device's app store — not inside KeptMind itself. This is how all iOS and Android subscriptions work: Apple and Google manage the billing, so cancellation goes through them.
## Cancel on iOS
1. Open the **Settings** app on your iPhone (the gear icon — not KeptMind settings)
2. Tap your name at the top (Apple ID)
3. Tap **Subscriptions**
4. Find **KeptMind** in the list and tap it
5. Tap **Cancel Subscription** and confirm
Your Pro features remain active until the end of the current billing period. After that, you return to the Free plan automatically.
## Cancel on Android
1. Open the **Google Play Store** app
2. Tap your profile icon (top right)
3. Tap **Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions**
4. Find **KeptMind** and tap it
5. Tap **Cancel subscription** and follow the prompts
Same as iOS: features stay active until the period ends, then you revert to Free.
## Cancel on web (Stripe)
If you subscribed via the web (keptmind.com/pricing), your subscription is managed through Stripe rather than the app stores. To cancel:
1. Sign in at keptmind.com
2. Go to **Settings → Billing → Manage subscription**
3. The Stripe customer portal opens — click **Cancel plan**
## What happens after cancellation
- **Your data stays**. Tasks, captures, energy logs — nothing is deleted. You keep full access to everything you created.
- **You return to Free**. The features that require Pro (SMS/call escalation, multiple calendar sync, longer history) become unavailable. Core features (voice capture, Today list, energy check-in, push reminders) continue working.
- **History retention shortens**. Free retains 30 days of capture history; Pro retains 6 months. After downgrade, captures older than 30 days are archived (not deleted) — they stop appearing in search but remain in your export.
- **No penalty**. We do not send guilt emails, lock you out, or make the downgrade experience unpleasant. You can re-subscribe anytime with one tap.
## Refunds
Apple and Google handle refund requests for subscriptions purchased through their stores. KeptMind cannot issue refunds for app-store purchases directly — you need to request through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play (play.google.com/store/account).
For web (Stripe) subscriptions, email hello@keptmind.com within 14 days of charge for a full refund. After 14 days, we pro-rate.
## Frequently asked questions
### Can I pause instead of cancel?
Not currently. The workaround: cancel, use Free for as long as you need, then re-subscribe when ready. Your data and settings persist across the gap.
### Will I lose my tasks if I cancel?
No. Cancellation affects features (escalation, history depth), not data. Every task you ever created remains in your account on the Free plan.
### Can I switch from Pro to AI+ (or vice versa)?
Yes. In the same subscription management screen (App Store, Play Store, or Stripe portal), choose the different plan. The switch takes effect at the next billing cycle; you are not double-charged.
### I canceled but I am still being charged?
This usually means the cancellation did not complete in the app store. Re-check the subscription screen (steps above). If it shows "canceled" but you are still charged, contact Apple or Google support — they handle billing disputes for app-store subscriptions. For Stripe subscriptions, email hello@keptmind.com immediately.
